After months of prototyping and testing, Lake Erie Toolworks is finally ready to build their first production batch of handplane blades. They are made with a new super steel, CPM MagnaCut. It is a powder metal stainless steel engineered for knives/cutting edges and has the ideal combination of wear resistance, corrosion resistance and ability to sharpen to an exceedingly keen edge. They have a quantity of steel on hand for their first full run with more coming in January. Currently they have a variety of upgrade blades that work with antique Stanley planes as well as modern planes from Lie-Nielsen™ and Lee Valley/Veritas™.
