Whether you’re in the shop, on the trails or a jobsite the Danner Vicious boots are highly recommended.
It can’t be stressed enough how important proper footwear is in the shop and on a job site. Not only for your safety from the multitude of dangers, but the ability to work effectively without any physical discomfort during and after. In this review we took a look at both the men’s 4.5” and women’s 4” Vicious work boots.
Danner was founded in 1932 with the purpose of producing the best boots possible with the highest quality materials for loggers in the Pacific Northwest. Their commitment to quality remains almost a century later in footwear that was literally designed for the rugged conditions imposed on them by woodworkers and for the outdoors.
The Danner Vicious work boot offers a well-made, lightweight yet durable solution to your footwear needs.
The Vicious boot is designed to cup your heel for a secure fit while offering a little more room in the toe to accommodate feet that are carrying heavy loads. It also comes with a dual-density EVA midsole for extra shock absorption and comfort. The oil- and slip-resistant outsole has a low profile 90-degree heel making it versatile enough for indoor and outdoor work. For tough jobs it has an abrasion-resistant heel cap, an all-leather upper, a non-metallic safety toe and a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX liner.
At the first instant of putting on the Vicious work boots you immediately feel the welcoming comfort of a well-fitting boot, akin to a pair you’ve worn for years. For me they immediately felt formed to my feet and provided excellent support throughout.
The Speed Lace System provided an immediate synching of the laces from bottom to top, providing an excellent support structure and ankle support. As someone who’s sprained their ankles numerous times this reassuring support puts your mind at ease on uneven and awkward surfaces.
After the first wear I experienced some pinching along my outer toe, however, with my overly wide feet it’s typical, the pinching quickly went away as the boot and my foot became accustomed to each other. Within the first few uses I was wearing the Danner Vicious boots for hours at a time. In the shop on a hard concrete surface I didn’t experience the usual back or leg fatigue after a long day.
Women’s Vicious Work Boot
My testing partner had this to say about the Women’s 4” Vicious work boot after the very first wear; “So comfortable right out of the box. I was on my feet for an entire day and they were never sore. My feet were kept warm and dry, while hiking through cold wet temperatures. The laces stay tied and never slackened, which is very important to me. The tread and grip of the soles made hiking over slippery surfaces a breeze. They also look good! These are my new favorite boots!”
Whether you’re in the shop, on the trails or a jobsite the Danner Vicious boots are highly recommended. The comfort combined with well thought out design and durability makes these boots a worthwhile investment for anyone who wants quality footwear for a wide range of conditions. It’s like Lt. Dan said, and it rings true for anyone needing work boots; “…there are two standing orders…, one, take good care of your feet and two, try not to do anything stupid…” The Danner Vicious work boots can at least help you with one of those standing orders!
